New developments in the understanding of early life nutrition and whole of life performance offer opportunities for changing livestock performance in the future. How should hill country farmers use supplements and tactical nutritional additions to turn these insights into future benefits for sheep production? Opportunities may exist in adopting new forage species, and mixes of forage species, supplementary feeds and/ or functional supplements to enhance the performance of both the ewe and the lamb in late gestation and early lactation. The potential and problems of adding these as options into our pasture feeding system to more targeted feeding approaches are explored. Keywords: sheep, nutrition, forageDownloads
