Abstract

This paper reviews some of the current practical and economic implications of Acremonium endophytes of ryegrass and tall fescue in New Zealand grassland agriculture. A historical perspective of their discovery and possible future implications of a new "novel" endophyte strain are also covered. Keywords Acremonium, endophyte, ryegrass, Lolium, tall fescue, staggers, Argentine stem weevil, clover, liveweight gains
