Abstract

Our goal is to increase the metabolisable energy of forage species (such as Lolium perenne, perennial ryegrass) via accumulation of lipids in the leaves, and further improve upon this by the delivery of polyunsaturated fatty acids whilst maintaining a low input agricultural system.
