Abstract

Seed yields of 'Grasslands Cook' chewings fescue (Festuca rubra spp. cornmutata) and 'Grasslands Tasman' creeping red fescue (Festuca rubra) were increased by immediate post-harvest grazing or burning. Severe defoliation (3-5 cm from ground level) by burning, grazing or cutting in autumn and winter, decreased seed yields. Nitrogen increased seed yields, but there were no significant differences (P
